Welcome to day 2 (of 3) of the Impression Obsession 2015 Spring Die Blog Hop! Impression Obsession designers are sharing projects made with beautiful new dies, and there will be gift certificates given away each day! Yay!
For today's card, I chose to use five of the butterfly shapes from the beautiful Medium Butterflies die set to create a clean and simple card that pays of in cute colors, high quality papers, and those beautiful butterflies! I admit, this card doesn't look like much in photos, but in person it's wonderful to feel the quality card stocks, pretty colors, and see the little details of the dies and faux stitching lines.
I die cut the butterflies out of white card stock, placing them precisely where I wanted them using the Sizzix Magnetic Platform. Once the butterflies were die cut, I removed them from the white card stock and set them aside for use on a later project. It was the negative shapes of the die cuts I wanted for this card!
I chose five different October Afternoon patterned papers, and adhered punched circles of each print behind each of the butterflies, filling their space with cheerful colors and patterns. To add to the visual interest of the card, I used my handy dandy serrated tracing wheel to add flight lines for each butterfly, and a pretty dotted detail around the edge of the card.

Valentine's Day is just around the corner, so I thought I'd put together a few boxes for sharing treats with my sweets! Let me show you how easy it is to create this little gem of a gift box.
The die I used for this project is the newly released Sizzix Scoreboards XL Recipe Card Box by Eileen Hull. The Scoreboard dies are really fun to use. They allow you to create unique projects using Sizzix Mat Board which you can cover in your favorite scrapbook papers. Just sandwich your material and die between a pair of Extended Cutting Pads and put it through your Sizzix Big Shot machine.
To create my box, I chose white Sizzix Mat Board and beautiful patterned paper from Crate Paper's Paper Heart 12x12 collection. I adhered the patterned paper to the mat board with Tombow Liquid Mono Multi glue. I like to adhere the designer paper before die cutting, so the paper and mat board are perfectly positioned together.
Once the box was die cut, I lightly inked the fold lines and edges with brown Distress Ink from Ranger, and added some faux stitching lines with my tracing wheel. I also added some double-sided adhesive to the two small flaps, which is all it takes to keep this box assembled. Gotta love that!
I chose to use a very small Velcro self-adhesive dot as the closure for my box. The best way to ensure you get both sides of the Velcro dots lined up is to adhere the two dots together, peel them (together) off the clear storage sheet, adhere one side of the dots to your project and then close the flap of your box. The adhesive on top of the second dot will stick to your box flap in the exact location needed. Easy peasy!
The Velcro dots work *great* on projects like this! Stock up, crafters! They're so nifty!
To embellish my cute candy box, I used die cuts from the recently released Sizzix Fancy Base w/ Layering Shapes Thinlit set. I die cut red, pink, and white glittered cardstock using various shapes from the set, and adhered them to the flap of the box.
Thinlits are very easy to use! Layer your card stock and Thinlit die between a pair of Standard Cutting Pads and the Magnetic Platform, and put it through your Sizzix Big Shot machine.
I added a cute pink heart gem to the center of the butterfly and a pretty pink and white twine bow to finish it off.
I filled the box with gobs of delicious Dove chocolate hearts. Yumm!!
I think this box is just the cutest thing to make. And it would be easy to die cut a window in the front of the box, too! You could easily die cut a heart shaped window and add a piece of clear acetate for a peek-a-boo style box.
Since the assembly of the box is so easy, you could make a heap of these really quickly. How fun they would be for classmates and teachers, too!

Pull out your Sizzix dies, and get crafty -- I'll show you how to make these Christmas cuties!
I used the Owl #2 and Frog #2 Bigz dies and put a Christmas spin on things for some cute non-traditional Christmas ornaments.
I gathered up some of my favorite supplies, including wool felt, embroidery floss, buttons, ribbon, and pinecones.
Bigz dies cut felt easily! Sandwich the die and felt between two cutting plates, and run it through your Sizzix BigShot.
Hand stitch your felt pieces together, embellishing with pretty things as you go! It's easy to make one-of-a-kind ornaments using the same die and just changing up your embellishments and colors.
I encourage you to stretch your crafting supplies by using dies you wouldn't normally think of as "holiday" dies when crafting for the holidays. I think everyone needs a Christmas frog on their tree, don't you!?
The owls were fun and easy to create.

Our challenge for November 2014 has been issued by Kelly! The challenge topic is to make a Silver and/or Gold seasonal project. I chose to make a simple autumn inspired Post-it Note cover.
I used the Notepad Cover Bigz L die by Brenda Walton. I used my BigShot and two cutting plates to cut the cover from 80# cardstock.
Once the cardstock was cut, I folded the cover on the score lines that were created during the cutting process.
I used double sided adhesive on the back of a stack of Post-it Notes to adhere the stack to the newly created cover.
There is a nice opening made for tucking the point of the cover flap into, but I decided to change mine up a bit by using a little tiny mini velcro dot to hold the cover closed. I found the mini velcro dots in the sewing section of Walmart.
I used the die to cut several more laters of paper, including gold foil paper, so that I could embellish the cover. I adhered a button to the cover with a large glue dot. Clean and simple! And a nice small gift.

Vintaj and Sizzix teamed up for a fun, week-long blog hop, to bring you an entire week of crafts using the brand new Sizzix Bezel Framelits Dies and the Vintaj brass Bezels.
Today is my day to share inspiration with you!
I created a clean and simple natured inspired necklace using the Sizzix Fern Fronds DecoEmboss die, Eclectic Bezels, Oval Bezel Decorative Pendant, Vintaj Glaze, foil, and Vintaj Patina.
I started by using the bezel die to die cut an oval from copper foil. I then embossed the foil oval using the Fern Fronds DecoEmboss die. I added several colors of patina to the debossed areas of the image impression, and waited for the patina colors to dry.
Once dry, I used a fine sand paper to brighten up the raised areas of the embossed design, to really bring out the copper color of the foil. I adhered the foil to the decorative pendant and sealed the entire surface of the foil with Glaze.
I found some antiqued copper colored charms and beads in my stash and created some complimentary accent pieces for my pendant. I attached them all to a leather cord using similarly colored jump rings.
I had so much fun creating this necklace. Such a nice change of pace from my usual every-day crafting!

For my project, I chose to make a journal using the Great Outdoors patterned cardstock collection. The base of my project is a Maya Road Binder Book, with 6"x6" pages.
I kept the embellishments all very simple, and user friendly! A few leaves, a banner, and a button threaded with hemp twine keep things easy.

There's a new Mix-Ability Challenge posted in the challenge forum at SplitCoastStampers! The challenge is being hosted by Tiffany Johnson, and it's about Faith, Easter, or Spring (Mix63). In addition to the theme, we are to use our favorite go-to mixed media technique.
For my card I went with what I call the "squishy watercolor technique". I press various colors of Distress Ink on my craft sheet, mist the ink with water, place a piece of watercolor paper (or die cut) face down into the ink and squish it around a little. The squishing is what causes the nice blend of colors. Once the ink is dry, I add another layer of color by again placing the paper or die cut face down into the color. The second time, I don't do as much squishing around.
Using two dies from the Sizzix Egg framelits set, I die cut two eggs from watercolor paper and proceeded with the squishy watercolor technique. Once all the colors were dry, I stamped the die cuts using the Script Cover-a-Card stamp from Impression Obsession. Because the eggs were rather "busy", I decided to keep the rest of the card clean and simple. I added a couple of faux stitching lines to ground the eggs, and stamped that cute *old* A Muse sentiment in black ink. Some string and a cute heart button embellish the eggs.
The idea behind the Mix-Ability Challenge is to make mixed media simple and approachable, and to let you experiment using things you already have. Each Friday a new challenge is hosted, but there is no time limit, so you can participate whenever you'd like on each challenge. Join us, won't you!?

Our challenge for April 2014 has been issued by Kelli! The challenge topic is Ain't No Sunshine When She's Gone (a Miss You card)!
I used all kinds of things to create my card! The butterfly embellishment was made using the new Sizzix "Heart Pendant" Bigz die, by Brenda Walton. I used part of some Sizzix clear packaging, die cut the butterfly shape twice, added a few white spots to one of them, and adhered them together with foam adhesive. I added a button to the center, threaded with hemp twine.
The butterfly is adhered to an office tag that I tea dyed. I use a lot of these tea dyed tags during the holidays. Also attached to the office tag is a hand-cut fishtail banner. The sentiment stamped on the banner is from my Everyday Sentiments cling mount set, from Whipper Snapper Designs. I added a hand-dyed seam binding bow to the top of the tag.
The background of the card is painted, stamped, and inked watercolor paper. I was experimenting with one of my Yarka watercolor pigment pan sets last night, and created a sheet of randomly colored squares. I thought the squares created an interesting color pattern, so I cut the sheet down and used part of it on my card. For added interest, I inked the edges with brown Distress Ink, stamped it with the Impression Obsession Script Cover-A-Card rubber stamp, added a couple of postmark stamp impressions, and finally added some white gesso splatters.
I had fun making this card -- a bit different from my "usual".

The current High Hopes challenge is Clean and Simple. I chose to use Rosie's Ride and Herbie's Heifer for my card. Instead of using the entire images, I used only Rosie and Herbie and cut them out from the paper they were stamped on.
This allowed me to add them to the window I die cut in the front of my card!
I embellished the card with a flower I made using an EK Success flower punch and Spellbinder leaves I die cut from card stock. I added a pretty cocoa colored button to the center of the flower that I threaded with a thin strip of card stock.
The sentiment is from my Everyday Sentiments cling mount set, from Whipper Snapper Designs. I used Banners #2 die from Sizzix to create the two banners on the card. The cute farm themed paper is from StudioG, but similar prints can be found manufactured by JilliBean Soup.

Sorry for the lack of activity here over the past few days ... we had some serious internet issues going on, and our life online came to a screeching halt. Thankfully, things seem to be back up and running today. While we have connectivity, I thought I'd share a couple of cute ladybug cards I made!
This card was made using various dies from The Stamps of Life, and a Sizzix label die -- and if you can believe it, not one single stamp! The ladybug was made using the ladybug die set from The Stamps of Life. I die cut cute papers and assembled her, adding a button and string for embellishment. The little tag is from the MiniTags2Stamp stamp and die set, also from The Stamps of Life. And the heart is from a Sizzix stamp/die set called Love, Hugs & Hearts. Such girly colors!
This card was also made using stamps and dies from The Stamps of Life. The sentiment is from the Ladybugs2Love stamp set, and the dotted trail is from the Bee4Me stamp set. I created the ladybug using the same ladybug die set as the first card. Cute papers from October Afternoon make this card extra sweet. And I added a cute little pink gem to the top of the ladybug's wings.

There are some fun new mini flower dies available at The Stamps of Life, and I thought I'd share a few of the projects I made using them! For this card, I used the new mini flower dies, along with the onesie die, which is just so cute!
For a splash of color, I used pink brads for the flower centers, and little sage green and silver sparkly leaves tucked under the flowers.
On this card, I hand cut a large fishtail banner and added a paper doily to the top of the card.
The flowers are cut from yellow and peach colored card stock. I added a few green leaves behind the flowers as well. I adhered a few clear gems to the flower centers for a little sparkle, and a cute pink button to the center of the white string bow.
For a third card, I used the Sizzix fancy #4 labels die set to create a pretty center frame using super sparkly silver glitter paper.
The mini flowers are cut from various colors of card stock, with clear gems adhered in the centers. Oooh la la!

How about putting a little "more" country on the country cottage house! I used the Sizzix Biz XL Country Cottage 3-D die to create a little chicken barn, complete with grain silo! I had the best time making this project!
I used some corn button embellishments to decorate the ends of the coop. I placed little brown brads on the door of the coop and the silo for door knobs. Using one of the shutter dies, I created a little sign to hang above the door... "The Coop".
I even used chickens from a couple of my Whipper Snapper cling mount sets to create some stand-up chickens for the yard! They were stamped on watercolor paper, colored, fussy cut, and a little tab at the bottom of each was slipped into a slit I made in the base of the cottage to allow them to stand upright.
When I adhered the coop onto the base, I placed it at a slight angle, allowing me a bit more room at the front of the cottage for the chickens.
I decorated the top of the coop with a cute rusty star, antique mother of pearl button, and a little handmade "fresh eggs" banner.
I created the grain silo by wrapping The Paper Loft's designer woodgrain paper around a standard cardboard tissue roll. For the top of the silo, I die cut a scalloped circle and using scissors, snipped to the center of the scalloped circle so that I could form the circle into a cone shape by overlapping some of the scallops. A healthy addition of dry Distress Glitter to everything really sparkled up the place!
I hope this little coop provides you with a bit of inspiration! I know I can't WAIT to make more fun themed cottages! I've got quite a little collection started!

Our challenge for February 2014 is issued by Diane! She is challenging us with the topic of My Furry Valentine, and asks us to make a Valentine using a critter themed image. I love this topic because not only do I love using critter themed stamps, but I also love making little projects for critters in our immediate and extended family!
For my project I decided to make little dog treat pouches with Valentine themed toppers. I used my Twiggy stamp on one, and a Penny Black stamp on the other. These pouches are quick, easy and FUN! to put together.
