A friend recently asked what kind of twine I use on my projects, so I pulled some of my favorites out of my stash to show you, and her. Sometimes it's just better to SEE, right!? I don't like "wimpy" when it comes to string and twine (or coffee! Ha!) ... and these have become some of my go-to's.
If I had to choose one absolute favorite, it would be the chocolate brown Natural Polished Brown Hemp cord (the one on the right, above). I use it on almost every holiday craft I make. It's masculine and country, and just perfect, in my opinion. The 100yd roll can be found in the beading section of Walmart (I've never seen it elsewhere), and usually priced at $4.99. I always have at least 1 spare roll in my stash.
I also really like the Elements Hemp Jewelry Cord (the one on the left, above). Not as rich of a color, but certainly country and rustic in all the right ways!
I keep the roll I'm currently using in a glass jar. I punch a hole in the canning lid and thread the cord through the hole, so I don't have to open the jar every time I want a piece for my project. The jar keeps the cord clean, tidy, and well, cute!
I also LOVE the Creative Impressions Twine Expressions. These are rolls of 500yds, so much larger than your average rolls of twine. The twine is wispy and frayed, and great for when I want a lighter embellishment. I love using this twine in several wraps around my project for a bit more "bulk". It also is available in other colors ... navy, dark green, and burgundy.
Similar to the brown hemp cords mentioned above, these rolls of Hemptique are a personal favorite as well. It comes in two different weights (10lb and 20lb). It threads easily through buttons, and maintains body -- it doesn't go all wimpy. I just recently purchased the 20lb black and grey rolls at Hobby Lobby and haven't had a chance to use them yet. But the 10lb natural white roll I've had in my stash for a good long while, and enjoy using it on my projects.
Hemptique cord also comes in other colors, too! I found these rolls at Home Goods last year for a couple of dollars.... of course, they had to be added to my stash!
I also really love using colored baker's twine on my projects. These are two of the rolls I own, in orange & white and a pretty turquoise blue & white. The brand of these are Divine Twine. I ordered these rolls from The Cat's Pajamas. I have pink & white and yellow & white that I use a lot in the spring, but most often I think I use the roll of black & white. And I use red & white to embellish orders from my Etsy shop.
So, those are a few of my favorites -- now, what are yours!? *grin*

I think I found a little bit of heaven. Coffee heaven, anyway!
When you live in the Pacific Northwest (where I was born and raised), you are spoiled when it comes to coffee and tea selection. There are coffeehouses in every town and coffee shacks more prevalent than gas stations ... or so it seems. But finding good coffee in central Texas is a bit more challenging. Especially where we live! So, I order coffee beans online.
Last month when I was about to place my bean order, I decided to order a new-to-me brand. I had plans of sending some beans to Dad for Father's Day, so something special seemed even more appropriate. Based on Amazon reviews, I ordered a bag of Kicking Horse Coffee Kick Ass Dark Coffee. Boy, am I glad I placed that order! I like a bold, flavorful coffee. Nothing wimpy or see-through. One cup a day is all I have, so I like it to have substance. Yes sir, this has all of that! Yumm!
I'm almost out of beans again, so this morning when I went to submit my order for another bag, I did something I've never done before ... I subscribed to have Amazon send me a bag every 2 months. That should keep me cheerful!
I did send some of the beans to Dad for Father's Day, so I'll let him chime in on what he thinks of them... As for me, I give these beans two enthusiastic thumbs up!
Happy Monday!

For my birthday I made myself some pretty beaded bracelets and had several requests to put some in my Etsy shop for holiday shoppers. Well, good news! They've been posted, and there are several to choose from! I told you this little elf has been busy, busy, BUSY! *grin*
This one is similar to one I made for myself, that I can't even be bothered to take off (other than for showering). It's very comfortable, and goes with everything I wear since I'm a jeans wearin' kind of gal.
Maybe you'll find one you like, or one you think a friend might like!

In the heat of summer, I find I do more shopping online. Like at Amazon.com for groceries items I can't find outside of Dallas (who wants to drive into the city when it's 100*?), and ShopAtHome.com. With free shipping offers, good deals can be found. Like this one! Free Suave shampoo through ShopAtHome.
I think the ShopAtHome cash back program is great! Purchase the item and get the Wild Cash Back Reward amount posted to your account, making the item free! You'll get your first cash back check when your account balance reaches $20. I took advantage of this offer and thought I'd share the opportunity with you! Last week I was able to get free Neosporin, which is something we ALWAYS have on hand here on the farm. So, watch for great "wild" deals.

Mom and Dad have two cats...
And as you might have guessed, they're spoiled rotten.
I thought of them today when I came across a coupon for their FAVORITE treats! Temptations (Tasty Chicken flavor only, please) by Whiskas.
Want your own coupons? Go HERE and fill in their info form. Upon submitting the completed form you'll be presented with a coupon for $1 off two bags. The coupon prints via coupons.com, and if you've never printed a coupon using the coupons.com "coupon printer", you'll need to install their printer application prior to printing the coupons. But it's easy ... follow the instructions, and before you know it, you'll be printing up your own Temptations coupons!
Once the first coupon prints, press the BACKSPACE key on your keyboard, and then click the "resend" button on the pop-up message to reload the print page and print a second coupon. And don't worry, you're allowed two coupons. Just not any more than two. *grin*

Good morning! We're well underway now for 2011; hope it's been good for you so far! I flew back to Texas on Thursday, and Alan and I had a quiet weekend.
Friday night I futzed around in the kitchen doing some cleaning and organizing. Two weeks ago bought myself some cute Pyrex refridgerator dishes and wanted to make some room for them in the dish cupboard. They are from the Butterprint line of Pyrex from the late 50s, and feature a cute little chicken. I've been watching ebay listings for about a year, and finally just decided to buy myself some. I found a listing that wasn't overpriced, and the dishes were said to be in excellent condition with no chips. They arrived in perfect condition!
Fitting them in the cupboard started an entire re-fresh of all the cupboards. I used to have a squishy removable foam shelf liner in the dish cupboard. It was an ugly brown color, and needed to be washed. I got it all washed up and then decided to change it out for some pretty, flowery, heavy duty scrapbook paper. I like the paper lining much better - and it was an inexpensive way to freshen the cupboard! At midnight, I was washing the silverware tray. Pretty exciting stuff for a new years eve celebration! *grin*
I've drawn winners for the 2011 On the Farm calendar blog candy, and I've got good news for two lucky readers! I have decided to give away two calendars, instead of just one.
To celebrate the new year, I figured comment #11 should be celebrated! Comment #11 was by LacyQuilter who said "Happy new year, Anna. What a fun calendar. I've just been sitting reading. No parties."
I also chose one winner at random (#48 was drawn), and big congrats go to Boulderneigh Michelle who said "Since your "farm" photos are my favorite part of your blog, I'd love to win a calendar. We didn't really celebrate at all, old married folks that we are. :-)"
Get in touch with me ladies, and I'll get your calendars out to you right away! You have your choice of standard size (11" wide), or small (7" wide).
Today I'm cooking a turkey dinner for Alan's parents, nephew, and us. We haven't been able to celebrate Christmas together yet (various travel schedules), so a nice turkey dinner seemed like a good way to wrap up the weekend and spend time with the family.
Enjoy what's left of the weekend!

I bought these Chaco Wrapsody sandals and was SOOO excited for them to arrive. Chaco sandals are my FAVORITE! But dang it, I bought size 8 and I wear size 9!
I don't have the box, so my only option is to sell them. I thought I would try posting them here to see if anyone is interested in them, before I post them to ebay. They retail for $80-$90 depending on locations. I'm asking $60 (passing my sale price on to you), and shipping to US locations is on me.
They're brand new ... never worn outside of the house, and only tried on long enough to realize I'd ordered the wrong size.
Anyone interested? Drop me a note!

I got a fun package in the mail this week; quilting weight cotton fabric, designed by me! I thought tonight would be a good time to put some of it to use!
I put together a few zippies, and listed them in my etsy shop. Not only are they made with my Farm Girl and Tiny Tim fabric, but they're also lined with a cute chicken wire print and have a cute flower charm on the zipper pull.
I also listed some of the fabric in my etsy shop too. It's ready for your creativity!
Thank goodness for weekends... I was ready for one.

Thank you, THANK YOU for all the wonderful notes you left for Alan while I was gone! I laughed and LAUGHED when I read his post! *snort* I can't BELIEVE he told you about me swimming with the chickens! Hahahaaa!! He's in so much trouble, now! Hahaaaa!!! Way too funny! And for all of you worried about Alan's beautiful quilt not being used, don't worry! It will be used by us, but critters are not allowed. No way, no how.
I had a wonderful time in California at the trade show. A BIG thank you to the Whipper Snapper family for bringing me along for the fun! The purpose of the trade show is for manufacturers to showcase their new products to retailers, and for retailers to place orders for their stores. Even though I wasn't the one doing the shopping, I had a GREAT time! I thought I would share a few of my favorite things with you...
My favorite new paper lines were from My Mind's Eye. Loved the colors, the textures, and the prints!
EK Success had OODLES of new punches -- I stopped to oooh and ahhhh over them several times, but only took this photo. Clearly I was distracted! The punch in this photo was actually a mini size! And worked like a CHARM! Punched through the heavy weight designer paper like a breeze!
More favorite papers from Core'dinations. They partnered with Cosmo Cricket and Jenny Bowlin to create embossed papers -- very cool!
I love BoBunny's double dot papers, and what's not to love about double dot ribbons, too!?
I also spent a great deal of time at the 7Gypsies booth. Yumm! I thought these little journals were particularly fun!
More great papers, this time from Basic Grey.
Basic Grey hit a home run with their Blush paper line ... and here's another home run with their Blush fabric line! *drool*
The Fruitcake line is another Basic Grey favorite... with yo-yo's even!
I picked up a lot of catalogs, and look forward to going through them one at a time to dream up all kinds of fun projects using this year's goods!

I'm selling some retired Stampin' Up sets on ebay... you'll find the auction listings HERE. Time to give these beauties a new home! They have all been trimmed and mounted on wood blocks, but most of them have never been used. Sad, but true.
A note to all blog reading bidders...
If you've read this post and you win an auction, be sure to let me know that you heard about the sale right here on my blog. I will include 25+ yards of 1/4' grosgrain ribbon (assorted colors/lengths of my choosing), and maybe even some striped ribbon too, with all of these auctions if you tell me before you pay that you read about the listings here. I have not mentioned this in the listings, and do not plan to do so. It'll be our little secret.
Let's hear it for free ribbon and "new" stamps! *grin*
PS: Just an FYI... all of my Crafty Secrets store listings will be 20% off Sunday and Monday! I will gladly combine shipping charges for you on multiple items purchased.

There's a new stamp company "in town" called Poppy Stamps. They're from the Memory Box family, so you'll get the same great quality of Memory Box products. They look like they may be made in the same location as wood mounted A Muse stamps. Just guessing....

This weekend I put the finishing touches on this wooden stocking ornament. Since I planned to sell it on ebay, I wanted it to be extra nice. The wood form is actually quite large for an ornament, and would really stand out on a tree! I think it would also be fun as a wall hanging.
The stocking is 9.5" at it's longest point, and is 6" wide heel to toe. It is covered with new coordinating holiday papers by Cosmo Cricket. The stocking has faux stitching, and is dressed up with one of my large multi-layered crystal snowflakes.
I'm just thrilled with how this turned out! So much so that I almost decided not to list it for sale, wanting to keep it for myself! And then I remembered a plane ticket I need to buy for the holidays...
Not wanting to leave the back unfinished, I dressed it up simply with beautiful red designer paper, and a cute red button with a hemp twine bow. There's also a long twine loop hanger, with a green button attached at the end. CUTE!
If you're interested in this item, view the listing on eBay.
I've got a short work week this week due to the Thanksgiving holiday - Yeah! More time to work on holiday projects! And I've *got* to get started on our holiday cards!

Several months ago (maybe even longer) I registered with Etsy, an online site where artists sell their work. It's taken me a long time to get around to actually posting something for sale on Etsy, but I'm happy to say that I finally have! **YAHOO!**
I'll be using Etsy as a place to sell high quality prints of my illustrations, and original art. I've added a link over on the right side of my blog for "My Etsy Shop".
I chose to sell prints on Etsy rather than eBay, it's because Etsy is dedicated to artists, where eBay is everything under the sun....and then some. It's a great site with LOADS of talented artists! Check it out!
FYI: Etsy is not an auction site. Items are listed with a buy price, so if you want something there's no waiting for an auction to end.

I haven't done a special order for Crafty Secrets stamps for a while, so I thought it might be good timing since they've just released a couple of new sets!
The first new set is Favorite Fellas for $25.75.
This is a great "guy" set with lots of vintage fella-type images to choose from. This is a must-have set to go with Coffee & Tea, and Party Queen!
I created the card posted above using this set. The images stamp perfectly with various kinds of ink. On the above card I used Black Stazon ink for the image of the Fella and the diamond accent line, and I used Stampin' Up Buckaroo Blue ink for the text below.
The second new set is Hardware for $15.75.
The great vintage hardware elements found on some of the Crafty Secrets Vintage sticker sheets are now available as stamps! Can't WAIT for this one!
The set includes images such as vintage keys, locks, iron-scroll fence, a very cool ruler, corner pieces, screw heads, and more!
I'm also taking orders for the little Vintage Hangers that work so perfectly with the SweetChip Outfits! Hangers are $2.99 each. The hangers come with two little matching metal clips that slide on the hanger for optimal placement. There's also a little plaque perfect for a name, title or expression. The hangers are a perfect accent to SweetChip outfits, or displaying other papercraft projects.
If you would like any of these items special ordered for you, just drop me a note! I'm offering a FREE US/Canada shipping special on all pre-orders to blog readers!

Don't miss out on the Parisian Polka Dot & Oodles of Poodles handbag that my Aunt Judy made! The auction ends today, in only 6 hours!
I've been pouting all week at the thought of having to send this to someone instead of keeping it for myself. The person that wins this auction is getting a gem of a tote! I love it!
More than 20 people are "watching" this item, and the item has had 356 views. Whooooohoo!!

My aunt Judy made the CUTEST handbag for me to sell on ebay! I *really* want to keep it for my very own, but listed it today on ebay for some lucky bidder to win. (Sometimes sharing is so hard!)
It's a Parisian Polka Dot & Oodles of Poodles Michael Miller designer fabric, handmade quilted handbag ... and Oh my GOSH it's just SO cute! All of the fabrics coordinate, and the embellishments and details are just amazing.
The winning bidder will certainly see why I want this bag for my very own!
You can see the listing HERE.
Ooooh, I can't believe I'm actually SELLING this! I might have to pout all week about it! I already know I'm going to pout the day I have to mail it to the winning bidder!

I was so excited when I received Card Design by Dave Brethauer yesterday! Knowing the Memory Box standard of quality and reputation, I knew the book was going to be good - but WOW! I'm impressed! It's even better than I thought it would be!
The card samples and the photos are just fabulous!! Right now I have three two ONE ...oops, sold out! of the books in stock if you're interested. They've even been personally signed by Dave! Thanks Dave!
Get in touch with me if you'd like a copy ordered for you!

I received my order of the NEW Crafty Secrets stamps! They're so amazing! Check out this Vintage Christmas set -- ooooh so fun! I've uploaded all of the sets to my shop; you can see them all HERE.
Crafty Secrets has done a wonderful job of pulling together the new stamp sets. Vintage Christmas is my favorite, followed by Wine Lovers and Party Queen!
You'll want to check out the sample gallery on the Crafty Secrets website for ideas using the sets.
We're also welcoming a new designer to the team - congrats to Pam Hooten!! Wonderful to have you on the team, Pam!
PS: I sold out of the SweetChip Outfits and Houses, so if you want to have some added to my next order just get in touch with me! You can email me at annawight @ yahoo.com.

To make room for new Memory Box stamps, I'm having a Memory Box Stamp Sale on the Sassy & Sweet Shop!
But it's ONE DAY ONLY! Tomorrow, Wednesday August 8th from 12:00pm Pacific Time to Midnight Pacific Time.
All Memory Box stamps currently listed on the shop will be marked 20% off! The sale price is only valid on current Memory Box listings, and only on Memory Box stamps purchased during the sale hours. Sorry, no special orders during the sale.
I used the Memory Box frog on this card and the masking technique to create 'a lot of frogs...' Nine is a lot, isn't it? I think nine is a lot...
This card is 4.25x4.25 in size. I really REALLY love this paper by Basic Grey... it is so YUMMY!

If you're a SplitCoastStampers fan club member, this journal might look familiar to you. It was one of my January projects for the Dirty Dozen gallery. It was my 'farewell' project -- what a fantastic experience! I was a member of the Dirty Dozen for 11 months, and loved every moment of it!
Starting today, this journal is up for auction on ebay; HERE.
The journal is 4.75 x 5.5 inches. The covers, inside and out, are covered with coordinating paper. The stem of the flower and the center of the flower have Dazzling Diamonds on them for LOTS and LOTS of sparkle!
I hope that whomever wins the auction loves this journal as much as I do.

Summer's gaining on us and it's time to celebrate the newly released Memory Box Summer Penguins with a card contest! As soon as I heard about the summer penguin release I jumped at the chance to have my shop, Sassy & Sweet Crafts, host a Memory Box Summer Card Contest.
How do you enter?
Create an original card using one or more of the new Memory Box Summer Penguin rubber stamps.
You don't have any summer penguins yet? Shop here! Summer Penguins include Posey Penguin, Surfer Penguin, Fishing Penguin, Ice Cream Penguin, Net Penguin, Fiesta Penguin, and Beach Penguin.
Once you've created your original card using at least one of the summer penguins, post a comment to THIS blog post and include a link to where you've posted the card on your blog, your SplitCoastStampers gallery, or any other photo hosting site (like TwoPeas, Flickr, Webshots, etc).
Enter as many cards as you'd like, but each card may only be submitted to the contest once. The more cards you create, the better your chances of winning!
Cards must be newly created designs, and may not be cards you've submitted to any other Memory Box contest - including other Summer Penguin contests. You may use stamps, designer paper, and embellishments from other companies in addition to the summer penguin stamp when creating your card(s).
On August 1st, a randomly selected winner from qualifying cards linked to this post will receive this amazing box of 50 cards and 50 envelopes in 50 beautiful Memory Box colors!
Don't forget... you must include a link to your card in your comment, and you must include your name!
Contest ends July 31, 2007 at midnight CST!
So, get stampin' and show us your Summer Penguin designs!

Today I received a portion of my printed floral greeting cards collection, and I'm super excited! The quality is better than I could have hoped for -- in fact, it's downright AMAZING!
I received 8 of the florals from the first set, and plan to do a series of equines/western as well. The plan is to see if any of the floral and/or gift shops in the area would be interested in selling my cards. Cross your fingers that they sell well! =)
If you're interested in purchasing the cards, I've listed a handful of each of the designs on the Sassy & Sweet Shop. AND, there's a gallery in the column on the right side of my blog called Printed Greeting Cards where you can get a look at the designs. The floral cards are an A2 sized note card. The illustrated cards are 5x7.
I do love flowers... it's so fun seeing them professionally printed so bright and cheery!

WOW... I got some newly released papers for the shop today, and they're all FISHY-Angler themed! I'm totally diggin' them!
There are four papers that have a varnish applied to them (for example, on the fish on this sheet) so the fish really pop from the background! VERY cool paper, and I'm so excited about using it for father's day, birthdays, gift items, etc.
I have already listed the papers (12 different designs total) on the Sassy & Sweet shop in the Patterned Paper category. Check out Bobbers! And Sunset Wash! And Dots!! VERY cool!!
