Hi again! Wow! It's been a while since I've been able to post, so I've got a lot to catch up on!

WHOA, have I been busy! I think my head's spinning!
First of all, tomorrow morning bright and early I'm off to California to attend CHA with Lisa from Whipper Snapper. We're going to spend three days enjoying the show, meeting all KINDS of fun, friendly people, and SHOP! I'm excited!
It will be my first CHA experience, and I can't wait! I'm excited, and nervous (so many people, so much to see!) but know it will be a fun time. I'll have my computer with me and will blog what I can, when I can. Stay tuned!
Next, I've got Whipper Snapper news, and oooooooo.... this card is a sneak peek at something NEW! Alan and I went to an auction last year and I ended up buying several photo albums FULL of various vintage post cards, and little greetings like this one.
Tonight I was poking around in the image files on my computer, and I came across some of those vintage post cards and calling cards that I scanned last summer.
Tonight, I thought I'd post this one for YOU!
Click on the image to view the larger image size. Save the file to your computer. If you right-click on the large image, you will get a menu that will have some sort of a "save" option, like "Save Image As..." or "Save Target As..." -- choosing that option will allow you to save the image file to your computer.
Once you have the image saved, you can print the image (I like printing on white cardstock), cut it out and use it on a project! Or, if you're a digital scrapper, you can use the digital image file. Whatever you decide to do with it, have fun! I think it's a sweet little image to say I love you.

I'm having such a great time using the stamps that I received this week. Gift Frog is one of my new Whipper Snapper images that I *needed* to have. I stamped him in black Stazon, and painted him with a water brush and Stampin' Up reinkers.
I used white acrylic paint on the tip of one of my smallest embossing tools to add the small white dots to the frog. It worked well, and was much easier to clean up than a paint brush.
I'm really liking River Rock colored Stampin' Up cardstock this week. (It's the funny pale green colored paper on this card.) I found that it matches this plaid paper by Chatterbox perfectly! Wouldn't you know it, I only have 1 sheet of the plaid paper, so I'll be on another search through my paper stash for a good match to River Rock before too long.
ANYWAY.... I bet what you are really wanting to know is who the LUCKY winner is of the three Whipper Snapper Blog Candy stamps I posted earlier this week.

I think my favorite flower in the Posies for You set is this chubby daisy. ...it's OK to have a favorite, right?! I mean, I have favorite chickens, favorite snacks, why not have a favorite Posie!? First I stamped the bucket on shimmery paper, then masked the bucket with a post-it note before I stamped the flower. I colored them both with Copic markers. The double-sided paper is by My Mind's Eye. The backside of the dots is the pretty sunny yellow paper at the top of the card. What luck ... they coordinate! *grin*

It's CHILLY here today so while I was out feeding the chickens and Lollie, I *LOVED* my gloves! They kept my fingers toasty warm! (Ok, so they're really Alan's gloves, but I can call them mine when he's not looking!)

I'm on a roll with making cards using my Whipper Snapper images! I made this card using Love Line, one of the January release images.
The image is stamped in black Stazon and painted with a water brush and Stampin' Up reinkers. I added some Dazzling Diamonds glitter to the letters using a Quickie Glue pen.
I'm also on a roll with blog candy, so I thought I'd stick with it for at least a few more days. It's fun for me, and hopefully fun for you! It's also handy that I have new cards made using the images, so it's a great way for me to showcase the stamps, and offer goodies at the same time.

I had a bit of down time tonight before dinner so I took the time to paint this image of Hen's Easter Egg, one of my recently released Whipper Snapper stamps.
I got to looking at it when I was done and realized she's a bit darker than I had intended! She looks like she's really workin' hard to sit on that big egg! Either that, or she really had to work hard to lay it! ...maybe both!
She's stamped in black Stazon ink, and painted with a water brush and Stampin' Up reinkers. I decided to match her brightly colored egg to the paper and ribbon when I made the card. I also pulled out my little Janome Sew Mini and did some stitching around the edge of the image layer. Pur-dy fun!
Earlier this week I offered up some Blog Candy and gave away a couple of Shy Bunny stamps. It was so fun I've decided to have another Blog Candy drawing. There were so many of you who participated, I wanted to gift a couple more of you, and now is as good a'time as any!

As if the January image release wasn't enough excitement for me, Whipper Snapper has even more exciting things happening - soon!
Maybe, just MAYBE, this is a sneak peek of those certain somethings! (I have been known to do that, you know...)
What I can tell you about this card is that the image is stamped on shimmery white cardstock. The blossom and pail are popped up on foam adhesive. The pretty blue note card is by Memory Box. I colored the image with Copic markers, and added some Stardust Glitter pen to the petals and leaf for a bit more sparkle.
I can't wait to tell you more!

I LOVE Whipper Snapper stamps - especially the animals. They all have something whimsical about them that makes me smile. I first discovered them through your blog and I love treating myself to one or two of them, but it's so hard to choose! I think my favorite of the moment is Billy goat - I can't resist putting him on the birthday cards I've been making for all of my "old goat" friends! I really do like the Shy Bunny. My favorite of this release is Faux Easter Bunny because it just makes me laugh! I will say that there are many on this release that I really, really like. I haven't placed an order yet because I am having a hard time narrowing that longggg list down for now. (There's just those few "gotta have it Now's" and some that "okay, it will be hard, but I can wait just a few weeks longer") :)

I feel like I've been working on this card for days! It's been two days anyway... I started it last night. I got the Shy Bunny image painted, and then got distracted playing Wii with Alan. After we played Wii for a couple of hours, I came back to the card and picked out some colors for layers and patterned paper.
*Yawn - Stretch* Bed time!
This morning I looked at the pile of paper I cut last night and thought it might be fun to use a silver charm on this card. I pulled out my little drawer of charms, poked them around for a bit, and then decided I needed some tea to get my brain in gear. For some reason during the tea making process I decided I needed to clean house. Maybe I should have checked my temperature... I must have had a fever! *wink*
Well, it's 12:04 am on Sunday morning, and I finally have the card finished and even a photo taken!
You might be wondering about the "blog candy" portion of this post! Oooooh, I have treats!! I have TWO of my BRAND NEW Whipper Snapper Shy Bunny stamps to give away! Would you like one!? About the card above, I used the Bird Notes and Cherubs sets to create this Christmas card. What I love about these stamps (besides how FUN the images are, and how well they stamp) is that they're so versatile. Even though they're not really "holiday" themed stamps, they make what I think is a nice holiday greeting.
I stamped the birds on a cream colored cardstock in Timber Brown Stazon ink. I watercolored them with various shades of brown, and added some olive green to the leaves on the branch. I inked the edges with various Distress Inks by Ranger, and added some faux stitching. The ribbon is by Martha Stewart and can be found at Michael's. I *love* Martha ribbons... The Merry Christmas sentiment is by Memory Box, another favorite of mine. Joy to the World music paper is from last year's Flair Designs holiday line, and of course I had to wiggle in some BasicGrey Figgy Pudding paper. Yum!

I received an email from my Aunt Patty earlier this week that had some cute Halloween funnies in it. This was one of them ... too funny! Thanks for the giggles, Patty!
Wow!! 266 comments for the Whipper Snapper Wicked Witch stamp! You girls were serious about wanting to win, and serious about your favorite treats, too! Hands down, Candy Corn was the favorite treat, and my guess would be that "anything chocolate" was the second favorite. My MY, you all know how to make a girl CRAVE sweets!
There were a couple of people who mentioned my favorite Halloween treat, which is fresh roasted pumpkin seeds. YUM! They're worth the pumpkin carving mess! Rinse them and clean them up, then soak them in a bit of salted water over night. Place them on a cookie sheet, sprinkle with some good salt and a bit of butter and roast them in the oven until they're nice and toasty brown! Mmmm... I'm adding a pumpkin to my shopping list!

Thank you to all who left a comment for the dozen plain chipboard ornament die cuts blog candy! So many of you haven't tried projects using chipboard yet -- you should!! It's great fun!
If you don't have a cutting system to cut your own chipboard shapes, you can get all kinds of chipboard cutouts at your local scrap and hobby store, online retailers, or even Stampin' Up!. Designer paper is easily added with any kind of adhesive. I like Tombow Mono Multi Liquid Glue in the white and green bottle. Once your paper is adhered, a quick trim with scissors and a quick sanding to tidy up the edges and you're good to go with all kinds of other embellishments! I use a nail emery board to sand the edges if I haven't cut the patterned paper with a die cut machine. Works like a charm!

It's 10:30pm here, and it's still almost 70 degrees outside. That's just WAY too warm for March in my opinion. Tomorrow it'll be near 80 ... phwew.
The best thing to come from warm weather like this is spring flowers.
The Texas Bluebonnets have started to bloom, and I'm hoping this weekend I can get out and take some photos of the little blue beauties!
Last weekend the light was good for photographing flowers, but the wind was out of CONTROL! And there's nothing easy about taking photos of wildflowers in a fast blowing breeze!
In honor of the changing seasons and the spring wildflowers, I think it's time for some Blog Candy!

It's so fun to see all the names that you've suggested for the donkey. We've added each of them to the list, and will hopefully be able to choose a name for her.
Once we've got the donkey named, the naming isn't over... there will be two more calves to name soon (one we know is due in March...), and I'm sure we'll have a load of chickens new to the farm soon as well. One of our hens is sitting on a nest now that's so full of eggs she can barely keep them all covered!
Speaking of naming, earlier in the week I posted a photo of one of our Turken hens. Manetta posted a comment that reads: "She is a cutie! And look at that strut! Can you say 'super model?' She is walking the walk. You have to name her! Manetta"
So, we're taking her advice and we've named the Turken hen Manetta! In fact, it's such a great idea that we might just call all of the Turken hens Manetta!

I wanted to do something special on my blog for Valentine's Day, so I'm giving away oodles of goodies for Blog Candy!
Did you all see these festive and fun Valentine items at Target recently? I can't get enough of the long refrigerator tablets - they're so handy for shopping lists.
The little packages of hearts are actually small magnets, and I think they would look so CUTE added to boxes, or frames, or cards as an embellishment.
I had to get the truffle photo holders. I use holders similar to these on my shelves to hold RAKs I've received. They work great!
White Chocolate Raspberry lip balm in little tins seemed like a perfect give to give, and keep! Of course, they're cute as they are but would also be very cute altered to make them even more special.
For all of the items listed above, I'll be drawing 10 names at random from comments left to this post. Each name chosen will receive a package from me. Packages will include a couple of items from the above mentioned list. Perhaps you'll receive a tablet and photo holder. Or maybe a photo holder and magnets. Or maybe your package will contain magnets and a lip balm. If you're counting the number of items in the photo and dividing by 10, don't. This is only part of the stash! =)

For Valentine's Day, I will be making some sort of scrumptious heart shaped cake (I'm thinking that there will have to be pink tinted coconut over the frosting). I would love to be able to go out to a romantic dinner with hubby (to a fondue restaurant) but with two young kiddos, going out is almost an impossible dream at times.
I've decorated a couple of the Target mailboxes for each of my boys (ages 4 and 3 1/2) and have made them each a Valentine (which is in my gallery on splitcoast). Will most likely make my hubbies card over the next few days. I'm also going to be stamping some Valentine's for my co-workers. How is it that the holidays keep sneaking up on me!? Valentine's day is just around the corner now, and while I had all kinds of ideas for projects, I haven't finished a single one!
I've got a list of love notes to make for friends and family, heart lollipops to make, sewing projects to finish, Valentine pamper-yourself packages to put together, and ... well, I think I'd better get busy!

I can't even begin to express how excited I am about the release of the 2007 Whipper Snapper images! The CHA convention is next week in Anaheim, California where all of the new stamps will be on display. It's almost the weekend!
Thank you for all the great comments about the quilted coasters. I'm glad you like them! The great thing about these is they're simple enough you could make them fairly quickly by hand as well, if you don't have a machine.
Many of you have asked how to make them, so here's what I did. I bought the 5" squares (Moda brand fabric, from their Sanctuary line) at a local quilt shop, but you could easily cut down any larger piece of fabric to 5" square. I ironed the squares so they were good and flat, and layered them with a piece of natural cotton batting. I made sure the fabric edges (top and bottom layers) were lined up and then pinned the three layers together with lots of pins around the edges and spaced evenly in the center of the square as well. Using lots of pins is kind of a pain (sometimes literally!), but it keeps things from shifting while you sew.
My first stitch line was one of the center diagonal stitches. I cut a piece of masking tape and laid it diagonally across the square so that one edge of the tape touched two opposite corners of the square. Then I sewed along the edge of the tape, careful to remove any pins that were in my way. When I got about 1/2" from the point I turned corner, removed the tape, and sewed along one edge. At the next corner, I replaced the tape diagonally across the square, but in the opposite direction as it was previously. I sewed along the edge of the tape, and when I got 1/2" from the corner I turned corner again and finished sewing around the entire square. Sewing along the edge of the tape helps me sew in a straight line.
I created a second outside stitch line, closer to the edge of the square. When it was completely sewn, I trimmed around the edges with my pinking shears and stitched on the ribbon & button. Tada! Quilted Coaster - cute as can be.

My Aunt Patty and my Mom make the cutest quilted coasters for their craft tables and as quick gifts. I have several of the coasters they've made for me in my room on different work areas - they're PERFECT for mugs of hot tea, or glasses of cold drinks. And if they catch a spill, they're simple enough to toss in the wash.
I thought that while I fiddle with my new sewing machine, I would make some of these now and then to offer as BLOG CANDY. These coasters feature a different Moda designer fabric on each side and have a nice cotton batting center. They're 5" square - just perfect for even the biggest of mugs! The one on the right looks a bit bluer than it really is. It's actually a really pretty lilac/lavender color.

These boxes are also great for storing and organizing 4x6 photos. This particular box is 6.5 x 6.5 x 5. Karen Foster boxes come in a variety of colors, including red of course! (This box is new, I just snapped it together for the photo.)

Wow, Anna - this is a sweet and wonderful card....I LOVE those birds!! I think my favorite Christmas treat is microwave Peanut Brittle - takes 6 minutes in the microwave and is excellent!! Ran across the recipe in my first microwave cookbook (the one that came with my oven) and I have been making it every year since (27 years!).
