Yesterday morning I went to the grocery store and found plums on sale. Soooo, I brought some home and made some yummy plum jam!
I simply followed the recipe in the pectin box, and it was easy as can be. There's no need to peel plums when you make jam, and that really cuts down on the prep time.If you decide to make some for yourself, be sure to choose ripe fruit without blemishes, bruises, rot, or mold.
We enjoyed some at lunch today with Alan's parents, and mmmmm-mmm was it ever good!
beautiful!

The funny thing about canning fruits for jam and jellys, gramma used to do it all outside in the shade of the fruit trees, while you and many others do it inside to take advantage of the AC. Some of my first memories as a child were of working with the fruit and berries while Grand Dad was getting ready for the cider season with his press. Then there was the Huckleberry pickin.....Um Um good! This should be a bumper crop year for the Huckleberries up here with all the extra snow to keep the berries dormant until after the last spring frost......with home made Ice cream!......Love, Dad

do you grow plums too? I wish I had the yard and farm like you.
I live in a city lot with a small garden and strawberry patch. Did not grow enough berries to make jam. Waiting on my carrots picked peas last week. Zuchinni and peppers are just about ready maybe today or tomorrow. Its 90+ degrees and i am waiting until evening.

Haha Anna!
I just had to comment that when I read this post your second last line makes it sound like if I was to make this jam for friends or family I should use old, yucky fruit- and use nice fruit for me!

YUMMY
I love any kind of jam. And my cabinet is getting low! Only a little strawberry, violet and peach left. We are hoping the peaches came in with enough for a batch and I now have enough wild black berries for a batch too!!! I won't get it done today GRANDCHILDREN coming to play :)
Have a wonderful week. hugs....

I've tried and tried to like plums, but I just don't. HOWEVER, your jam sounds and looks YUMMY! I bet I'd like plums if they were in the form of your jam :)
