I buy way too many fireworks each summer supporting the Chamber of Commerce. Most years I'm too pooped from helping with our annual parade and sales to actually light them off. At some point, husband (Mr. Safety Pants) tells me they are a fire and insurance issue so I go outside, usually in the rain, on New Year's Eve and set them off: HAPPY NEW YEAR !!

Happy New Year to you too! The 5 of us hung out and had special snacks. At 11:30 we had to turn on Dick Clark! Thanks for the chance to win! I came across your blog through crafting, but I love the farm life stories and pictures - as do my kids! My mom loves chickens - I remember showing her the pictures of your chicken sweaters!

I spent News Years with my husband and three children. This was my daughters (5 & 7) first year staying up until midnight. We enjoyed our traditional New Years Eve Lobster dinner.
Happy New Year!

This is such a great giveaway since I don't really have a calendar that I like for 2011...
My family spent new years at our friends house. We take turns hosting every year and this year was their turn. They just finished a huge renovation on their house, so it was a lot of fun to get to see all the new stuff.
But the best part was that my parents are visiting from Guatemala, so they spent Christmas and New Year with us... something that hasn't happened in a long time. This was a very special holiday season!

Woo Hoo! A chance to win Anna Wight photos - I'm in!
We have a great New Year's Eve tradition - all my neighbors (6 families)set out brown paper bag luminaria beginning at dusk. We cover about a 1/2 mile of roads in our rural "hood." Then light and admire the glow. Then we all head back to one family's backyard for a bonfire, pizza, and adult beverages. The kids alternate between running around in the dark and roasting marshmallows. At midnight we light off a firework or two (saved from 4th of July since we can't do fireworks in July), toast everyone, and drift home to bed. I am very fortunate! Thanks for letting me share- Happy New Year!

Hi Anna! I just started following your blog officially, have been lurking for quite some time. Your work is fantastic and inspires me greatly!!! We spent the New Year with a bunch of friends/family playing games and, of course, eating!!!

My husband and I welcomed the New Year cuddled up next to our brand new lil' guy "Brogan". He'll be two weeks old tomorrow and I can't wait to go to bed and start another day with them!♥

Since your "farm" photos are my favorite part of your blog, I'd love to win a calendar. We didn't really celebrate at all, old married folks that we are. :-)

Happy New Year! We had an amazing time ringing in the new year with a few friends and family, playing games from NBC's show Minute to Win it!! I can't wait to scrap those photos! :) I love your blog and read it almost daily. You are an amazing artist!!!

Hehe...I couldn't pass this up! My co-workers and I all got together last night at our friend Lisa's house. We are all in our mid-twenties, so you may think heavy drinking and partying were involved. You would be wrong. We were all decked out in 80's themed "costumes" (poofy and crimped hair, side pony tails, aqua blazers, lime green earrings, slinky bracelets, shoulder pads...etc). We sat in a circle around the coffee table and played Taboo (girls against boys, of course). I can't remember the last time I laughed that hard!! It was fantastic! I hope yours was JUST as fun and heart-felt. I look forward to following you though 2011!

I love reading your blog. Seeing all the farm animals reminds me of home and where I grew up on a farm. Have been a city girl since college. For New Years Eve I played dominoes with my 11 yr old son and we made fresh fruit smoothies and watched the ball drop. Was a nice quiet evening. Here's hoping you are yours are well and prosperous in 2011!

Happy New Year, dear! We had an exciting New Year's Eve watching the boys play their new Wii and fighting over the new games on it all night. The fighting was great for my headache! ha! Keep an eye out. I may be sending them to you. I'll take Betty in trade. :))))

Happy New Year Anna. Your blog is the first thing I read in the morning and always brings a smile, so thank you! Our New Years Eve was spent putting in hardwood floor in the kitchen and watching reruns of The Next Food Network Star. Ds went to a get together, but we were to bed before 11, pretty exciting huh, LOL.

Happy New Year! I always look for your posts each day. I love hearing about (and seeing the pictures of) the farm animals, especially Bad Boxcar Betty :-). I was lucky to spend New Year's Eve with my daughter and her family. We went bowling and then came back to the house and played games until midnight. I am blessed.

We spent our last New Year in this house with family, neighbours and friends and a lot of memories and laughter. In two weeks we will be moving to a beautiful new home but after 22 years of memories here in our first home it is bitter sweet. Yes a few tears were shed as we said our goodbyes to our friends for the last time. 2011 ans promises to be an adventure :-)

Anna, I love your blog, it reminds me of growing up on the farm. You inspire me with your beautiful crafts! I'd love to see more details/instructions for some of them. I'm not too crafty myself.
I'd love one of your calendars-my dream is to get back on the farm and I want to have some curly feathered chickens. Too cute!

Happy New Year to you and the farm. I love checking into see what boxcar Betty has gotten herself into. We didn't do much for New Year's eve. We had snacks, watched TV, set off fireworks and barely made it to midnight.

Celebrated by having quiet time with my hubby. Watched old movies and just enjoyed each other's company. What a way to enjoy the simple things in life. Love your blog! I've always wanted to live in the country and have lots of farm animals. I don't think there is anything more gratifying than picking up warm eggs in the morning. You are truly blessed!

Happy New Year Anna! It looks like you've had a beautiful holiday. I spent New Year's Eve at home in front of the fireplace with my Honey. We sang songs together, watched some old movies, and toasted at midnight.

We had a friend over for dinner and goodies. I had mentioned that we would probably be in bed by 10 as usual but time got away from us and before we knew it it was midnight. This old bird doesn't do midnight often but it was fun last night!
Posted by: Sheri | January 01, 2011 at 06:58 AM
Went to bed at 11, forgetting that it was New Year's Eve. I was reading and when I went to turn out the lights, noticed it as 12:14 already. Then it dawned on me it was 2011. I am looking forward to the upcoming year, no real resolutions, just to enjoy! Wishing you an enjoyable year too. Thanks for the chance to win.

hubby has a big elementary school age retreat going on at the camp where he is director, so our teenage sons are all out working there until New Year's Day. he came home about 11 pm with a bottle of bubbly so we could ring in the New Year while browsing the specials on t.v. with the 2 labs & cat on the sofa with us.

We had a funeral to attend so just spent a quiet, warm evening at home. Our oldest daughter came to visit and we just ate and watched some tv. In past years we have had people in to eat, play cards, visit, and laugh!
Thanks for a chance to win and Happy New Year!

Happy New Year to you too Anna!! New Years spent quietly at home with my husband and children and their girlfriends, playing games, and eating Thai food.
Yum!!!
Posted by: Janine | January 01, 2011 at 04:18 AM
Watched TV 'til about 10:00 (absolutely nothing worthwhile on, at all), went to bed at 10:05; tossed and turned 'til after midnight; got up at 6:00 (because that's when my puppies 'demand' their breakfast) . Guess that's why everyone says I am such a Party Animal! I sure know how to have a good time!
How about you Anna? How did you spend your New Year's Eve?
Posted by: bonnie weiss | January 01, 2011 at 04:12 AM
Happy New Year for all of you! I'd really love to win your calendar. I love reading your stories about the farm and seeing your beautiful animals - specially when they are behaving baaaaaaaaaaad or crazy LOL Andrea

Celebrate, grump, what's that? I was in bed with a cold and a drippy nose and asleep before midnight. But earlier in the week when I was listening to the Food and Farming awards on BBC radio, the only reason I knew what Dexter cattle were was thanks to you. I really like the way blogland expands our horizons. Happy New Year to you, Alan, the animals and your folks.

A very Happy New Year to YOU!
We didn't do anything at all tonight. I took a shower...if that's an event! LOL
I LOVE my calendar! I gave one to my husband for his new office. He starts a new job on Monday in KS. We'll be moving as soon as we can sell our house. In the meantime, he'll stay with friends during the week in KS, and come home to NE on the weekends. Do you need a couple of thoroughbred horses for free?? LOL We can't take them with us!

Happy New Year! I was pretty boring tonight. I actually wrapped Christmas presents. Yes, that's right. My family and I went out of town for the holidays and just got back yesterday. We haven't exchanged our own gifts yet and since I was busy wrapping EVERYONE else's gifts before we left I didn't get my own family's wrapped. LOL I also watched Dick Clark's Rockin' New Year's Eve. It was kind of fun to see the Backstreet Boys and NKOB together. :D I would love the chance to win one of your fun farm calendars. Please put my name in the hat for a chance. Thanks. :D

Happy New Year, Anna! I am spending New Year's Eve with my husband. Ever since we had kids, we stay in and keep it pretty low key. We indulge in a steak dinner and pass the hours to midnight playing games and eating delish homemade appetizers...mushroom caps, shrimp cocktail and wings. Yummy! Okay, back to the games!

Happy New Year Anna, I enjoy your blog both the craft posts and the farm pictures that you grace us with. I have had the pleasure of you sending me a card in the past, I still strive to find time to craft but like my new year it is likely to live short as a young mom of 3 boys 7, 5 and 2.5 which keeps me on my toes more than my other two ever did my year has been really tiring and my new year is likely to be even more of the same tiring.
