Spring is upon us, and some of the girls in the hen house are looking a little rough around the edges. I thought it might be time for a little pick-me-up treat.
A few months ago I read about a sort of "energy" drink that the birds might enjoy. Pureed carrots, vitamin C, echinacea, vitamin B12, and garlic. I whipped up a batch today -- the girls have been working hard at producing eggs, and they deserve a carrot smoothie! By the way, have you been keeping up with the daily egg count? Check it out!
I added the mixture to one of their 3-gallon water containers, and filled the rest of the container with cool, fresh water.
The girls gave it two toes up! Even Wiley thought it was grand!
Edited to Add: Found the site where I read about the drink. She didn't use vitamin B12 in her version, but I did.

Wonder what unexpected thing your girls will do with the added B12 . . . maybe lay purple eggs or some cool thing. :) You're so good to them!

After checking the "egg count" statistics, I'm glad you seem to have something to do in your "spare" time. Carrot smoothie vitamin shake???? While my feet slip further off the peddles of life you just keep on amazing me with the multi-tasking. My computer just runs slower and slower everyd,d,d,day..... Love, Dad
