Princess, one of our Dexter cows (the one that looked like a hippo during the last few weeks of her pregnancy), had her baby last night! She delivered him at about 10pm. We're happy he's here and seems to be strong and healthy, but DANG IT we were REALLY hoping Princess would have a GIRL this year. ARGH! Princess!!
We thought for sure the third time would be a charm (her first two were boys). We really are going to tie pink bows on her belly next year!
I'll get some photos this evening...
I just love reading people's blog about having a new baby. The best news ever.

What can I say, when you're on a roll, you're on a roll...says the mother of four boys.
(Obviously, I'm reading these posts backwards.)

Pretty interesting for a city girl like me! It looks like they're calving together? Was that planned or does one "labor" trigger the next? What beautiful babies!!!!

Congrats Princess... And I would suggest tying bows on all the bulls too... Maybe decorate the barn with pink streamers too!
Love the pic!

I bet she is so happy to have her calf. It is so hard when it is hot out. I grew up on a farm. Wish there were more cow stamps...

That cow in your illustration reminds me of Eyeore! :)
Why are your cows delivering so late in the year?

Ok...if they work the same as human's the male determines the sex...so I'd be looking for a new bull..LOL..or tie the bows on him!!!
