I had a ball making this card tonight! I wanted kind of a shabby vintage look to the project, so I chose this great "aged" gingham paper from the "Margo" packet of 12x12 paper from K&Company. I used my new Wildflower Silhouette set along with the butterfly trio punch from Martha Stewart's line at Michael's.
I chose to use the Texas Bluebonnet (which is a Lupine) image from the wildflower set. I inked the stamp with water base markers (I used Marvy Brush Markers, but you could use any brand of water base marker), spritzed the inked stamp a couple times with a fine spray bottle, and stamped the image on Whisper White paper from Stampin' Up!. Then I spritzed the stamp again (without applying any more ink!) and stamped the image a second time. You can see there was plenty of ink on the stamp for a nice second impression.
Once I had the flower images stamped, I masked off the edges of the layer with post-it notes and lightly sponged in some color to create the warm background.
I used two different colors of Glimmer Mist from Tattered Angels to create the spattered areas on the paper. I wanted the uneven spritzed look, so I applied a bit more of the mist in some areas than in others. I also chose to use a darker color mist, to allow the individual glimmer spots to show. I like the effect! The two colors of Glimmer Mist I used were Autumn Leaves and Iridescent Gold. You can click on the photos to see them larger, and see the shimmer!
Now, tomorrow's Friday, and I tell you... I can't WAIT for the weekend. My project list needs to be whittled down a bit!
Happy Friday!

All the design work are really gr8888..

I love this card, Anna! The technique is such a fun one, and your results are gorgeous! I think bluebonnets/lupines are some of the most beautiful flowers. Love the vibrant colors of flowers and butterflies.

Gorgeous card! I love the way the bright colors of the flowers contrast with the more muted distressed DP. The punched butterflies are a nice touch.
Good luck on your to-do list. Mine is longer than I'd like, but I'm going to be sure to include some stamping time.
Have a great weekend!

Oh man, you know I am loving this! The shabby plus the shimmer, plus your beautiful stamps, does it get any better? I grew up in Texas, and I remember the bluebonnets, and Indian Paintbrush.

What a beautiful card, Anna! I don't know if I ever would've thought to use a post-it note like that. I'm going to try that!

How LOVELY! Ahhh Bluebonnets...I miss them...are they already out in Texas? Wonderful, wonderful card, Anna!

Oh Anna - this has GOT to be the "purdiest" Texas Blue Bonnet I've "evah" seen, Darlin'. I adore your shabby effect but it's the spritzed ink on the stamp that steals my heart.
