Thanks to everyone who's been sending me emails checking in on me. I'm fine... I've just had a couple of days where I've just been puttering around not doing anything creative, catching up on things after being gone for the holidays. But I'm slowly slipping back into creative mode, and it feels good! *grin*
I thought I'd share a few more felt ornaments I designed and stitched up while I was up at Mom and Dad's for Christmas. I made this chubby woodland owl, and think it might be my favorite! I used various colors of wool felt, cut out my pattern, and hand stitched the pieces together. Before I stitched all the way around, I stuffed his fat little round body with craft cotton. The button is from my stash, probably from a Rusty Pickle jar of buttons.
I also made this little rose colored bird with earmuffs and leg warmers! I used a short piece of wire over her head to connect the two earmuffs. Her body is stuffed, too.
For Daisy and Farley, I made a little stuffed dog bone. So cute hanging on the tree!
Several people have asked where I've been getting my patterns and supplies. The patterns I drew myself. Once I had the drawing done, I cut it apart and used the shapes to cut out the felt pieces. You can use wool felt if you can find it, or craft felt which can be found in most hobby shops. I like the look and feel of the wool felt, but in a pinch craft felt will do. I used embroidery floss for all of the stitching, in various colors. You can find nice embroidery floss at places like Michael's, and some JoAnn's, or needlepoint shops. If you separate the floss (using one or two strands, instead of six) your stitches will be fine and not overwhelm the small felt shapes. Buttons and beads and ribbons dress up the ornaments nicely! You'll need some real fine needles if you're going to use seed beads -- not all of the beads will fit over a standard hand sewing needle.

Aww these are so cute. Leg warmers on a bird? ... now there's an idea for Tiny Tim!!

Well, I certainly think you know what this means!!! You must now draw out your patterns and start selling them to all of us. OR, better yet, package them up in kits. I'd buy some, I know. These are really so cute and looks like the perfect little craft to do in the evenings while watching the mind-numbing tube. Sound like a good plan to you?? Does to me:))
