I had a small festive gift I wanted to send a friend, and rather than wrapping it in typical gift wrap, I pulled out some fun seasonal scrap paper and created a simple open-sided wrap. While I think gift wrappings are great if they're fun and festive, I don't think they need to be overly complicated to be effective.
I measured the length of the item I wanted to wrap, doubled that number, and added 2" for the height of the ends. After four quick score lines and a couple of glue dots to hold it all together, I was ready to embellish!
I cut a narrow strip to use as a "belt" around the package to keep things in place. I left the sides open for ease of construction. While the recipient can get a peek at what's inside, I don't think it spoils the fun of opening the gift.
The ghost and sentiment are from my Halloween themed unmounted stamp sets from Whipper Snapper called Hocus Pocus and Spooky Expressions. I colored the ghost with markers (to make him look like he might glow in the dark), and added lots of glitter for sparkle! I stuck them to the package with two different thicknesses of foam adhesive so there's a bit of distance between them.
I'd show you what's inside...but that for SURE would spoil the surprise!
This is SO FUN!! Every time I see the images from this set with the big toothy grins they make me giggle!
