I have to say, this is my absolute FAVORITE image from the recent High Hopes release. Crissy's Fishing Santa is just so CUTE!!!
For this card I stamped Santa on kraft colored paper in black Palette ink. I colored him with Prismacolor colored pencils and used paper stumps and Gamsol to blend the colors. (Click here for more information about this coloring technique.)
Once I finished coloring Santa, I used a white opaque pen to bring out the white of his hair, beard and 'stash. Once again, coloring inspiration for using colored pencils on kraft paper came from Paula Williamson. Thanks Paula! *grin*
And now for the BEST part of this card! It has been a while since my last blog candy offering. I thought this would be a good time to start offering blog candy goodies as a way to celebrate my upcoming birthday! Yahooo!! I have Fishing Santa, a small Santa hat, and a sentiment that reads "Best fishes for a Merry Christmas!" stamps to offer up as blog candy! All three of the stamps are new unmounted red rubber (no cling or cushion), from High Hopes Stamps.
If you would like to be entered into the drawing for the stamps, please leave a comment on this post. I'd like to know your favorite place to find inspiration for creating your own projects. Do you have a favorite site, or magazine, or catalog, or maybe something entirely different, that you go to for ideas, inspiration, or just for crafty fun? If you can, leave a link so we can check it out!
I'll be choosing one name from the comments on Friday, October 3rd at 9:00pm Central -- be sure you leave your name!
Happy Thursday!
(ooooh, it's one day closer to Friday!)
inspiration is found on home depot's sight where I can find the paint chips. I like to mix the colours up a little. Or simply from some patterned paper and I match the cardstock.

Oh, Anna...this Santa is cute but your coloring is what makes him ADORABLE!!!
I usually start my cards lately by looking at some sketches I drew up for inspiration. Although....they rarely end up exactly like the drawing. LOL. But it's a good starting point!
Posted by: diane (cookiestamper) | October 03, 2008 at 11:38 AM
Anna,
This Santa is adorable. Love the way you colored him. He is ready for some real fishin'. My inspirational place is at my crafting desk...when it's clean. I like to pick out a few items to start with, some times items I have not used in a looooong time, and create from there. Many times I'm overwhelmed with having too many colors of CS, too many tools, and too many mediums to actually complete something.
Take care and STAY POSITIVE!

At first what a great Card :D! When I saw this stamp I know what I'm gonna order next month (can't buy anything more this month) that will be this stamp to make a christmas card for my brother because ever moment when he had time he will gone out fishing ;)
Then I just also want to wish you a happy Birthday and many more years in good healt.
And now the answers for your questions.
The most creative ideas i get from diffrent blogs one of them is the blog from Inge (from holland and als member off HH Design Team and many more Design Teams )
And because of here I just got more and more other blogs I've visit

I love High Hopes and this Santa is no exception to their usual cuteness! I spend waaayyy too much time viewing blogs and I look at magazines, but my inspiration occurs in my brain. Odd, yes, but true! My brain just takes all that I look at and smooshes it around until something interesting pops up and that is my starting point. I really am not very good at using sketch challenges because what my brain has smooshed generally will not fit a sketch. Sometimes it works, but usually not.

I just had my birthday for a whole week....what fun!! Your Santa is too cute!! My youngest son lives on a lake up in Michigan and he loves to fish. He is one of many in the family who would just light up at a card like this. I guess if I don't win it, I will have to buy it.....hehehehe
I love Blog hopping, and of course SCS for inspiration. As far as your blog, I love seeing what you do... and I love seeing all of your "babies" on the farm, your dogs and cats...........Heck I just love stopping by.

First, let me tell you that everytime I see your chickens, I *smile*. They are simply adorable! As for my inspirational source? I love the magazine Cookie. In this month's edition, there is a section showing mommy/daughter fall and winter jackets. Okay, my daughter is almost nine, but she really, truely STILL lets me dress us in clothes that are similar. You should see the colors in this article...lots of terra cottas and dark oranges and olive greens and dark charcoals. Yumm-Oh!

Your Coloring is Sooooo Beautiful! I absolutely love this stamp. My brother is an avid fisherman. I am headed to Buy the stamp now. Wish I was half the artist that you are.
My inspiration comes from blogs, like yours and SCS. I also look at the gallerys from my favorite stamp suppliers....they always have the great Design team members art, and through that I have signed up to get about 20 different blogs delivered to me to look at. It's lovely!
Thanks again for all your inspiration.

Your coloring is A-M-A-Z-I-N-G! Super idea to stamp the image on kraft. It really makes the white areas pop. Love the rosy cheeks and nose you gave him. So adorable!
I'm inspired by the talented stampers on SCS, blogs (like YOURS), and the outdoors. Today I was inspired by the fall chill in the air and the apple orchard we visited with all the pretty fall mums and pumpkins.

Hey there!!! I love this card! Your "coloring skills" blow me away! I find lots of inspiration from magazines that are crafty in nature but not "papercraft" mags...like Country Living or Martha Stewart...or Mary Engelbriet's mag...or Victoria.......or believe it or not, watching QVC sometimes...if Valerie Parr Hill is on with her decorating stuff....

I find my inspiration by viewing great blogs like yours! Also, Splitcoaststampers. Now if I'd spend less time drowling over everyone else's cards and get to work on my own, I'd have a lot of completed projects instead of ideas!!!

Oh I would really love to win this blog candy -- I make so many fishing cards. I spend more time than I care to admit reading stamping blogs. I bet I read at least 20 a day -- possibly more. I save all the ideas I really like in a huge email file. I refer back to this folder each time I begin a new card. I only look at the inspiration -- I don't print it out because I don't want my card to be exactly the same -- I want to put some of myself into it. So it's all you wonderful, talented, creative bloggers who give me my inspiration.

I gawk and drool at blogs, like yours, when I need a bit of oompf to motivate my creativity. Your dolphin is beautiful. This chubby guy is super cute, too. I will tell you that I stamped the santa for my Christmas cards on kraft paper and highlighted him with a white gel pen LAST WEEK. Hello! Where have you been - out on chicken roundup??

I am mostly inspired by the many talented stampers at Splitcoaststampers and by many of my friend's blogs. This may be a duplicate, Anna and I am sorry if it is....but I don't think my first attempt worked. I love that darling fishing Santa.

How cute is this new High Hopes' Santa image :) I especially love their "baby animal" stamps that they launched back in the Summer.
For inspiration, I have several blogs that I try and refer to several times a week ~~ ok, who am I trying to kid, every day! haa! Anna, in all honesty I refer to yours constantly because of your gifted talent in drawing and painting. I always learn another shadow that perhaps I never would have noticed or another shade I could use in my colouring. And at times, how your simplistic, clean & simple layouts are breathtaking.
Plus, I adore your pictures and antics on the Farm~~ they always give me a laugh and a smile :) Thanks for inspiring me :0)
