My favorite season is autumn, so designing a stamp set to use with rich, earthy colors was a must for the September Whipper Snapper release. When I illustrated the Give Thanks set, it was the earth tone color palette I had in mind.
For the main layer on this card, I used various distress inks to create a warmly colored page. I applied the inks with a foam applicator so the colors blended nicely. I used one of the blossoms from the set, along with the sanded background stamp by Stampin' Up, to create this sort of Prairie Girl style background.
The "weeds" (could be wheat, or lavender, or...) are watercolored with various yellow, orange, and brown inks to make them more of a focal point in the design. I used the same image on the background for a soft, repeating texture.
I'm having a ball with the new sets ... they give me just that many MORE reasons to be thankful. *grin*
