This week's Blogger's Challenge Friday theme was Sympathy. While sympathy cards aren't always "fun" to make, they are certainly appreciated by those who receive them. I chose to do a pet themed card and unfortunately, this was a fitting card for us here on the farm this week. Last Friday night, one of our wild farm kitties was hit by a car. She was a solitary little long haired yellow miss named Curly Two. She spent most of her time in or around the pastures, or around the big hay bales. She didn't usually come near the house or the road, so Alan fed her daily out at the hay. I made this card in honor of miss Curly Two.
The kitty stamp is by Claudia Rose and is watercolored, and then over-painted with Twinkling H2Os. She really shimmers. The paper is a Fabriano note card and envelope (from DickBlick), which I also stamped with a flower from the main image. The sentiment is from Stampin' Up.
I poked around the other Blogger's Challenge Friday sites today and there are some really wonderful ideas being shared. If you'd like to visit them as well, you'll find a complete list of participants and their blogs here.
Have a peaceful weekend!
PS: Edited to add photo of Curly Two. You can see Curly on her firetruck, here. (See why we had to call them Curly and Curly Two? Spittin' image...)
So sad and sorry to hear about Curly Two. The card is a lovely way to honor her memory.

Oh goodness, I am so very sorry to hear the news of your precious kitty. My three cats and two dogs and I are sending special animal hugs and kisses and purrs and barks to all of you. Your card is a special tribute to your friend/family member. Thank you for sharing with us.

Oh, I'm so, so sorry about Curly 2...how tragic. You know how I love cats, we have 7, and they are all special. Give some extra love to the remaining cats, I send my sincere sympathy...I know she will be missed.

Oh Anna. That post made me so sad. What a lovely tribute to a beautiful animal. Your photo of her really captures the serenity of her soul. She looks so gentle. Breaks my heart. Truly.

I was so excited to read your announcement yesterday morning that I failed to read the Blogger's Challenge and that you lost Curly Two. How terribly sad. I'm so sorry! I know how much your love all your farm babies.

So sorry to hear about Miss Curly Two. I just cry my eyes out over anyone losing a pet...even a farm kitty. She looked like a sweetie. I'm a sucker for striped tabbies. I have 2 - Zane Grey and Jazz (in addition to all-grey Cubby and calico Harley).

Lovely card. So sorry to hear about your kitty. Our pets become so much apart of our families, don't they?

Oh gee, Anna, I'm so sorry about Curly. When I pulled up your blog and saw your card, my heart skipped a beat. Yesterday we found my Maine Coon, Xebo, dead. She had been killed by a neighborhood dog. Needless to say, I've been worthless most of the day.

I'm new to your blog...found you as I was browsing some of my favorites...I agree, sympathy cards aren't fun to do...and I'm sorry about your kitty...but I think there is a definite need to make/create beautiful, tasteful and thoughtful cards for this type of occasion. In the past, a personally hand written note was the way to go with sympathy and then store bought cards became "the thing". But to receive a handmade card, that expresses a person's feelings, emotions and is "personal" makes all the difference in the world.

That makes me so sad to hear about your kitty! I was looking through your pictures -- is Curly Two the same as Curly? That's a beautiful kitty.
I'm so sorry to hear the sad news.
