It's time for another Showdown challenge with my friend Lindsey (Jacksonbelle). This month, Lindsey issued the Showdown challenge "Autumn in the Country".
I chose this wonderful barn image by Art Impressions for my project. It's such a great image! You can change the seasons easily by just changing the colors of the trees! I stamped the image on cream colored paper with Black Stazon ink. I painted the image with various Adirondack re-inkers (by Ranger) and a water brush. It's hard to see, but there's a very light blue painted in the sky.
I used a couple different painting techniques to create the scene. On the barn and tree trunks I applied the inks to dry paper, so I didn't get a lot of bleeding or feathering of color. I was able to control the color on the barn, putting shadows where I wanted shadows, and leaving highlights where I wanted highlights.
For the tree leaves and ground I applied inks to the paper when it was damp, to allow the colors to move and blend and create a softer look. I like the results of both techniques.
I mounted the image on dimensionals and 3D foam mounting tape and adhered it to a background of designer paper by Cosmo Cricket. The paper looks like peeled paint -- rustic, weathered, and perfect! There's a bit of hemp cording behind the image.
The sentiment is by Inkadinkado; one of my favorite expressions! I use it on the inside of cards most of the time, but it seemed fitting for the outside of this card.
Be sure you check out Lindsey's Autumn in the Country project on her blog Embellished! Another wonderful challenge Lindsey! Can't wait to issue Showdown #5 to you!

LOVE your card! Just beautiful! Obviously you have channelled your love of Fall into this card. I would love to see a series using this stamp -- all four seasons. That would look great framed on a wall.
Hope you had a spooky halloween! Hug to the critters and Alan too!

Anna - when you refer to using a water brush, is that equivalent to an aquapainter?
