I made this fairly quick one layer card for this week's Blogger's Challenge. The theme was Embellishments and we were to use brads or eyelets or buttons (etc) on our cards. I chose to use some fun patterned brads by Queen&Co for the centers of my flowers. I created this blossom card using inspiration from a card posted by a fellow stamper on SplitCoastStampers named Debbie Ware. Thanks Debbie!
I also made another one layer card (but not for Blogger's Challenge) to feature this image of a woman walking her dog on the beach. The image is from a new set by My Favorite Things called By the Seashore. Notice the dog looks a lot like my Miss Daisy! I really enjoy creating cards without layers. I like the clean, simple approach to cards like this.
The new My Favorite Things stamp sets used to create these cards - Build a Bouquet, By the Seashore and Essential Sentiments - can be found at My Favorite Things.
How fun would it be to WIN a By the Seashore set!?
Well.... Thanks to Kim at My Favorite Things, I have a brand new set to share with one lucky winner! Leave me a comment on this post if you'd like to be entered into the drawing for the free By the Seashore set. I'll choose one name at random on SUNDAY at NOON Central Time. Be sure to leave your name!
Hope you have a wonderful weekend! Don't forget....time to fall-back your clocks an hour this Sunday!
Oh my goodness, oh my goodness, I want this I want this!!!!!! Awesome card Anna. Love the stamps!

Great cards, both. It was almost like having a week off, wasn't it? I think most of us use some sort on embellishment on both things.

I,too, am very fond of doing cards without layers. It takes me back to when I first started rubber stamping, that was the only way we did cards. I do layers a lot, but my favorite is direct to the card.
Posted by: Shirley Dwigans | November 03, 2007 at 03:42 PM
Are those two one layer cards watercolored? I love the way you do the color around the outside of the image and I am wondering how you do it. And, of course, I'd love to win the By the Sea Shore stamp set, too. But I'd be just as happy with a tutorial on how you color!

Hi Anna - I love your work - your stamps, your cards - you are so inspirational! You make one layered watercolor cards look so simple but I have a hard time getting mine to look like yours! I have a question - you put brads on your one layer card - do you leave the back with the brads showing or do you cover them with paper? I would love to win the MFT set. Thanks, Harriet
