What a GREAT time Oregon was! I had a flight home to Texas yesterday - a direct flight from Portland to Dallas. No layovers! It was fabulous! And somehow, I managed a first class seat (how? dunno...) but it made for the best in-flight nap!
Two weekends ago Alan and I spent a long weekend on the Oregon coast, and then I spent the rest of the week between Portland and Eugene visiting friends and family. I've shared some of those photos with you, but thought I'd share a couple more.
This cute No Vacancy sign was posted on the gate of a house next to a couple of small beach hotels about a block from where we stayed. The wooden seagull is just perfect on top of the piling. I thought it made a fun souvenir shot from our vacation.
I've received several emails with requests to see more photos of me and Alan. I shared one on my blog last week and this one is a similar photo, just in a different location. These are the only kind of photos we took with us in them. They're silly and fun, and EASY! =) This is actually me posing with 7-year old Alan... He's so ROTTEN! I thought I left him in Texas, but he showed up frequently on our trip... =) Behind us is the harbor in Newport. If you look really closely, you can see sea lions on the rock jetty. They're so cool!
There were so many great things to see on our trip. This blue hydrangea was right next to the sidewalk of a house we walk past on our way to some of the little beach shops in Nye Beach. It was so pretty and so blue, I had to stop for a photo. Hydrangea's are very common in Oregon, and all of them are so pretty! My favorite is the blue, but they also bloom a very pretty pink, lavender, and even light green.
If you're planning a trip to the coast but aren't sure of a place to stay, Alan and I highly recommend the Grand Victorian Bed & Breakfast in Newport/Nye Beach. You won't see it on their website yet, but when you call for reservations ask for the cottage! It's a little house behind the big house (closer to the beach!) with two bedrooms, living room, full kitchen, washer/dryer, sun porch, and wonderful breakfasts made to order. You can see the ocean from the living room and sun porch windows. The Victorian B&B is the taller green house in the background of this picture and is actually a good distance from the cottage. The flowerbeds around the cottage were in need of some pruning, but they were filled with all kinds of wonderful smelling plants! Roses, dill, mint, honeysuckle, lilies, and there were even some blackberries just ripe for the picking! It really was a wonderful stay!
It was fun to come home to Alan and all the animals! Daisy and Farley *really* missed me, and Huey sang me love songs for a good long while. The chickens greeted me this morning for breakfast, and Fitz insisted lots of hugs and nose rubs.
Mmmm... what a good time and wonderful memories.

You 2 make such a great couple!!
