Alan and I went out into the far pasture this evening so I could take photos of some of the purple wildflowers I saw out there earlier today. It was really HOT and muggy, so we weren't out there for very long. But I did manage to get some fun shots of the flowers, and even a butterfly!
This flower is called a Shaving Brush (or Star Thistle or Basket Flower). We have a BUNCH of these in the pasture! Gobs and gobs! I thought this photo turned out pretty cool -- reminds me of an exploding firework. The flower bloom is about 2 inches across (some were larger, some smaller).
You can see more of the photos I took today in my Flower Gallery. The first 8 shots in the gallery are from today. Enjoy!

Dad says to make a 3'x5' pic for the 4th of July!! It's really cool.

OMGoodness, what an *AMAZING* photograph!! It's an amazing flower too, but *WOW* that photo just captures it and makes it almost surrealistic. It looks both yummy enough to eat *and* big enough to walk through. Such an amazing talent (one of many, I should say) you have ~ thanks so much for sharing! ~ K

Beautiful flower pictures. I spent some time in my front yard today- moving some plants and planting some annuals. I can't wait for them to bloom. I planted some black eyed susans(I just love those)- they remind me a bit of your Mexican hat flower, which I love also. Seeing all your gorgeous flower photos is making me anxious for mine to bloom.
And I can finally see you new banner full size- it is wonderful! A lovely summer garden of Sweet Miss Daisy flowers! ;0)
