I made this card with a couple of new sets from My Favorite Things. The doodly-swirly image is stamped onto the black cardstock with Stampin' Up White Craft ink, and then heat set to keep it from smearing. I added some Stardust Stickles to the lines for a bit of pizazz!
The woman's dress is colored in with a black gelly glaze pen that dries slightly raised from the surface of the paper, so her dress appears to be embossed. And, it actually looks like a little LEATHER black dress! Oooh la la! I used Prismacolor pencils and Gamsol to color in the rest of the image.
I wasn't sure I liked this card at first... but the more I look at it, the more it grows on me. No ribbons... No hardware. Just a cute image, dressed up with a nice sentiment, and some sparkle. I like sparkle!
I should probably think about making Alan a birthday card...
what a great card!! Love that black background with the swirls, too. Good job!

WOW!!! This card immediately took me back to when I was a child...women were ALWAYS dressed up. Remember when Beaver, Ricky Nelson, and all the other TV moms wore high heels, aprons, dresses, and pearls around the house? Well, my mom was the same way. Photos of my young birthday celebrations have her or a family member dressed to the hilt!! TFS this BEAUTIFUL card, which depicts today's women because of the leather. Back in the '50's there were negative connotations of a woman in leather, can you imagine? LOL.

I love this! coloring is perfect and it did not need any embellishments. (did I just say "didn't need any embellishments"? well, this one did not . You did a fantastic job. janet in nc

Love the black with the swirls! I've been seeing more and more black cardstock as a base lately and it's really beautiful!
